Mixed Bag
The Eastern Shore of Virginia is gorgeous, quiet, and isolated - just the way we like it. While it’s not the best place for any one type of hunting (well, maybe black ducks and cottontails), it can hardly be beat for consistent, dependable variety. That’s why we call this our Mixed Bag Camp. No matter what, we’ll put you on the action, and we’ve never had a skunk in this camp, literal or figurative. Not once in two decades!
This camp is designed to be laid-back with a focus on fellowship and faith. Above all, it’s just plain fun. Great meals, campfires, and hunting tales are just as important as the hunt itself. But that’s not to say we can’t be gung-ho “sleep when we’re dead” too. The only requirement is that we know any preferences in advance. After all, this is our home farm and Ben does get a few spare days for personal hunts - so we don’t want to be hammering any animals you’d like to pursue!
Mixed Bag Camp is basically a sampler platter, so it can serve as the perfect youth or apprentice hunter introduction. Our farm and accommodations are family friendly, so bring the wife and non-hunters to interact with our Highland cows and other livestock or simply enjoy the local attractions.
December is the ideal mixed bag month. We have our finger on the pulse of the migrations and movement patterns so we can call audibles and modify the plan as necessary. The possibilities are endless: deer hunting, trapping, predator hunting, small game, upland bird, waterfowl, fishing, spearfishing - you name it!
